Meet Mel

For over 20 years, I led Drama and then Performing Arts in a Secondary School in Birmingham. I also teach Health & Social Care, Citizenship and PSHCE, as well as having taught English and Music. Teaching has been a life-long vocation for me. I am blessed to have had a career which has given me a wealth of experience, as well as the huge privilege of contributing towards the education of young people.

As a child I was one of the founder members of the Central Junior Television Workshop. And as an adult; I founded and single-handedly ran a local Youth Theatre, "Innov8 Theatre", which centred around young people with limited access to the Arts. This is something that I am still whole-heartedly passionate about; providing a holistic environment where young people can be nurtured through their creativity to realise their dreams and ambitions beyond any barriers they may face.​

Alongside a wide variety of CPD, I have personally undertaken courses in Mental Heath First Aid, Mental Health Awareness and Neurodiversity. I am very interested in learning more about and working within the Health & Social Care sector.
